Post#21 Two Self Directed Studies Inclass along with the Joker
October-November 2011: Done In: On Mylar paper, Ink pen.
Done In: Sketch book with pencil and kneaded eraser.
This was a study in life drawing studio time that was altered for a project. It is the final of three contour drawings. I loved this one the most, the other two were in conte and charcoal.

This Joker sketch is mostly referenced to Jack Nicholson's acting version of the joker and also used a recent halloween release of the "90's Joker" mask. This sketch was done within a few minutes of my own time while I was waiting for another class to begin.
A painting for concept and ideas painting class, another student gives you an idea and you work from it as a appropriation project. We were taught during the lesson that it's done allot in art and other mediums. Which is common sense but the approach was left up to us. My approach was I was given a image of a large beetle like creature that was fat and looking down on a spec of a person it's angle was not direct like mine and the look of the face was no where near mine. I also was given only a grayscale image to reference on 8 x 11 paper and the print itself was half that. So very hard to make out detail as well so I just came up with my own color scheme and look for the creatures face. I was vaguely reminded of the video game Diablo when painting his face so after I was done I played that for a while.
